Crawford Square looking north
Title
Crawford Square looking north
Description
At the time this photograph was taken, Crawford Square was known as Central Square. This image shows the Howard House Hotel, which was torn down ca. 1925, on the right. In the center of the square is a stone drinking fountain and trough and an elm tree; more elm trees line North Main St. To the left stand the Turner Free Library and the Turner/Beach Estate. A caption at the top of the image reads "Central Square, Randolph, Mass." The image has been colorized, likely through hand-coloring. The postcard may have been saved by a collector, as the back reads "No. 8, rough board, handcoloured" in handwriting from the early 1900s.
