A transcription of a letter from Civil War soldier John E. Warren to his parents and to his sister Emma discussing the course of his life as a soldier and reacting to news at home. In this letter, Warren discusses the previous month and a half of battle, describing two minor wounds he received under the command of Generals Philip Sheridan and George Custer during the last days of the war, as well as an incident in which Custer's army was about to attack and plunder a Confederate wagon train but was deterred by the unconditional surrender of the Confederates. View letters here.
