Title

Moses Littlefield Homestead

Description

This house, after which Hunt's Hill was named, was located at the intersection of Routes 28 and 138. It was originally owned by Moses Littlefield, son of one of the first Braintree residents to settle along the Blue Hill River. The house then passed to Littlefield's daughter Beulah and her husband Joshua Hunt. Hunt was a farmer and reputedly a toll-taker for the Boston and Taunton Turnpike. The back of the original photo read "Aunt Beulah's House", making it likely that Beulah lived there for a long time. The house fell into disrepair sometime between 1880 and 1910. The house was eventually razed so a Holiday Inn could be constructed, while Hunt's Hill was leveled and the dirt was taken away to be used in constructing runways at Logan Airport.
