Randolph Alms House
Title
Randolph Alms House
Description
The Randolph Alms House was located off Pleasant St. on what is now Amvets Ln. It contained a dormitory and dining room for the poor of the town. The inmates provided for themselves by working on the large farm surrounding the building. This building was built in 1840, replacing the old Alms House on South St., and was later (at least from the 1980s through 2020) used as the Amvets post and meeting hall. The acreage that served a farm has since housed an ice rink, Little League fields, and a park.
