Minstrel show at Stetson Hall

Title

Minstrel show at Stetson Hall

Description

At the time this photograph was taken, Stetson Hall, built in 1842, served as the Town Hall. The second floor of the hall served as a town event space. This was likely a professional minstrel troupe that came to Stetson Hall to perform. The bunting and flags hung by the stage may indicate that the photo dates from the town's centennial in 1893 or from World War I. The tablets on either side of the stage, commemorating Randolph's Civil War dead, as well as the portrait of Amasa Stetson behind the stage, are now in the GAR Hall on the first floor.
