Dr. Herman Smith's house after the Hurricane of 1938
Title
Dr. Herman Smith's house after the Hurricane of 1938
Description
The Hurricane of 1938, also known as the Long Island Express, devastated much of New England and Long Island as it swept through on September 21, 1938. Evidence of damage in Randolph can be seen in this picture, showing an uprooted tree that has fallen on the house of local dentist Herman Smith on South Main St. at Fairmount St. In this view from the side, it can be seen that the top of the tree has landed squarely on the top of the house.
