Description
In 1932, Harvard graduate and aviator Frederick Lothrop Ames crashed the plane he was piloting into a field on Lafayette St. He and his two passengers, Harvard classmate Frank Penrose Sproul and heiress Frances Burnett, along with his dog Salud, were killed in the crash. This image shows the wreckage of the plane, with several spectators and investigators examining it. A short news story about the crash with the credit line ACME is taped to the back of the photograph.
